57 Ways to Sunday was created around a simple idea: sometimes the hardest part of sharing your faith is getting the conversation started.

Our Conversation Starter designs are made to create natural openings. A question on a shirt. An image someone doesn’t quite understand. A phrase that makes someone stop and ask, “What does that mean?”

That question can become an opportunity.

Every design is connected to a biblical truth or passage and is intended to help ordinary believers turn ordinary moments into gospel conversations.

We’re not trying to put the whole message on a shirt. We’re trying to open the door and give you an opportunity to walk through it with confidence.

The Story Behind 57

I’ve spent more than 30 years in ministry and currently pastor a local church just outside Savannah, Georgia. Over those years, I’ve noticed two things that often keep believers from sharing their faith.

The first is simply finding a bridge from an ordinary conversation to a gospel conversation. The second is the fear that once the door opens, we won’t know what to say—or we’ll say it wrong.

Those two challenges were in the back of my mind when an unexpected season gave me the opportunity to try something new.

After open-heart surgery to repair a congenital heart valve issue, I suddenly found myself with something pastors don't often have much of—idle time. My activity was severely limited, and for a while there simply wasn't much I could do.

I've always had a creative side, but somewhere through the years of ministry and the demands of pastoring, I hadn't given it much room to breathe. Recovery gave me that opportunity.

Eventually, my pastor's heart and that creative itch came together.

I began developing designs that weren't intended simply to make a statement about faith, but to invite a question about it. Something interesting enough that another person might stop and ask, “What does that mean?”

There's the bridge.

But I wanted to go one step further. Every design has a biblical truth or passage behind it, and the Stories Behind the Designs explain that connection. So when someone asks about your shirt, you don't just have an opportunity—you have somewhere to take the conversation.

So, Why 57?

My last name is Hines. As you might imagine, growing up with that name came with more than a few Heinz 57 jokes.

Eventually, I decided to own it.

I adopted 57 as my number. I wore it on jerseys. I used it in different places through the years, sometimes even in place of my name. Somewhere along the way, 57 just became part of who I am.

So when this idea began taking shape, 57 Ways to Sunday seemed to fit.

The long-term goal is right there in the name: 57 different designs, each created to help open a door to a gospel conversation. Some designs may come and go along the way, but the mission won't change.

In the end, 57 Ways to Sunday is the marriage of two things God has given me—a pastor's heart and a creative spirit—put to work for one purpose:
