About The Design
In baseball, sometimes the most important at-bat isn’t about getting a hit. It’s about making the sacrifice that brings someone else home.
HIS SACRIFICE BROUGHT ME HOME.
The scene captures a sacrifice fly in motion. The batter has done his job. The runner returns to third to tag. The outfielder prepares to make the catch. And when the ball comes down, the race for home begins.
But this design was never really about baseball.
The number 3/1 on the batter’s back points to the Three-in-One God, while the words point to the One whose sacrifice accomplished what we could never accomplish for ourselves.
Jesus Christ took our place. He gave Himself for our sin. And because of His sacrifice, those who trust in Him can be brought home to the Father.
The runner doesn’t get home because of what he did at the plate.
Someone else made the sacrifice.
And that’s the Gospel.
