WRAPPED UP IN CHRISTMAS
Christmas can get a little out of hand. There are gifts to wrap, ribbons to untangle, and sometimes a mischievous dog who decides to help. Before you know it, the wrapping paper has taken over—and so has the laughter.
That's the playful moment behind Wrapped Up in Christmas: a boy caught in Christmas paper, a dog who looks suspiciously pleased with himself, and a reminder that the best parts of Christmas aren't always the ones we planned.
But there's another kind of wrapping at the heart of the Christmas story. Luke tells us Mary wrapped her newborn son in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger (Luke 2:7). The gift of God's Son didn't arrive beneath a decorated tree. He came humbly, into an ordinary and imperfect world.
John 3:16 tells us why: God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. Beneath all our holiday preparations is the gift that made Christmas worth celebrating in the first place.
So enjoy the laughter, the surprises, and even the wrapping-paper disasters. Just don't get so wrapped up in Christmas that you miss the One Christmas is about.
Conversation starter: With everything that gets wrapped up at Christmas, have you thought about the first Christmas gift—and why He came?
Wear your faith. Start a conversation. Grow the kingdom.
